Why the story you can tell in two minutes matters more than the stat sheet — and a kit that gives you both.
Introducing a new strategy to clients is rarely about basis points. It's about the story you can tell in a one-or-two-minute conversation — and whether the client can retell it later. In our experience, the strategies that stay in portfolios are the ones clients understand; the ones that get questioned in every review meeting are the ones they don't.
That's the thinking behind the Client Conversation Kit for the CapForce IBD® Breakout Opportunities ETF (BOUT): three client-facing slides, built for independent RIAs to drop into a review meeting, plus a one-minute script. Not a 40-page deck — the three things a client actually needs to hear.
The first slide answers "what is this?" without jargon: instead of picking growth stocks one by one, this fund follows a defined set of rules — an index developed by Investor's Business Daily® — for identifying stocks showing breakout characteristics. The rules decide what's in and what's out. That means this part of the portfolio follows a process, not predictions.
The word doing the work is process. Clients have heard "we like this stock" before; a repeatable, rules-based process is a different — and more durable — story.
The second slide answers "why do I own it?" — and this is where the advisor personalizes:
The kit gives you both versions, with a fill-in structure for the client's specific situation. One sentence of role, one sentence of sizing, one sentence of what it's next to.
The third slide is the one that prevents the difficult meeting two quarters from now. It sets expectations honestly: this sleeve is growth-oriented and will move more than the broad market at times — in both directions; it follows its rules in all conditions, which means there will be stretches when the process is out of favor; and it is one piece of a plan — the plan, not the sleeve, is what the client should judge.
No performance projections, no "expected returns" — just the shape of the ride. Clients don't need certainty; they need to not be surprised.
The pattern we suggest: introduce the sleeve with the three slides at a regular review (not a special meeting — it's a portfolio decision, not an event), leave the one-pager version behind, and use the one-minute script when the follow-up call comes. The kit includes talking points for the three questions clients ask most — "is this risky?", "why now?", and "what does it cost?" — each answered in client language.
